Pineridge

Pineridge Natural Area, Fort Collins, CO. The Pineridge Natural Area, surrounding Dixon Reservoir, is a birding hotspot during the spring and fall bird migration. It is located on the southwestern edge of the city, just below the south dam on Horsetooth Reservoir. On my visit yesterday I found a Great Horned Owl in the trees north of the reservoir. I rarely fail to see a Great Blue Heron feeding near shore, although yesterday, on a cold morning, the only water birds I saw were a few mallards.
