Salyer

Salyer Natural Area, Fort Collins, CO. Salyer Natural Area is located just north of Lee Martinez Park, along the Poudre River. This area has obviously seen considerable human impact over the years and appears less "natural" than most of the other areas I've visited. Weeds abound, especially a heavy infestation of mullen. To address the problem, the city has recruited several hundred goats. I have to say, it is quite amazing to watch as these creatures eat their way through this mass of weeds. It will take some time, I think, to rehabilitate this area to its natural state.
