Coyote Ridge
Coyote Ridge Natural Area, Fort Collins, CO. Coyote Ridge Natural Area is one of the largest of the Fort Collins natural areas. It is located in the southwest corner of the city and serves as an open space buffer between Fort Collins and the city of Loveland, 12 miles to the south. Loveland and Larimer County open space abuts Coyote Ridge to the south, making an open space corridor between the cities. Some of the best mountain bike trails in Northern Colorado are in this area. The area is full of deer. Mountain lions are occasionally spotted along the trail. A large prairie dog colony is located on the approach to the ridge. Raptors of all sorts come for the smorgasbord.
